The National Identity Management Commission(NIMC) has resorted to coercive and arm twisting methods to compel hungry and poverty stricken Nigerians to register for the National Identity Number(NIN).
At most registration centres, young school leavers, several below the age of 18 and who intend to sit for examinations such as UTME, NECO, SSCE among others are regular faces. This category of Nigerians have over stretched the staff of the NIMC.
Sadly, due to the limited copies of registration forms available, the forms are sold for between N1,000 and N1,500 to those who are ready to pay.
Surprisingly, other category of Nigerians who are at the centres for registration are turned back and advised to check at a later date.
This development would definitely affect the Operation Positive Identification, if urgent steps are not taken to correct these lapses and several others not mentioned.
