The All Workers Convergence(AWC) has warned workers in Nigeria to be cautious of the long strike notice issued by labor leaders recently over the non-implementation of the new national minimum wage.
The AWC gave this warning through its National Coordinator, Comrade Andrew Emelieze.
''Why should the labor leaders give such a long strike notice, if they are serious about the strike ?
The fear of workers in Nigeria and that of the AWC is that can the labor leaders be trusted with their call for an indefinite strike action, considering their antecedents of calling off a national strike less than 12 hours to its commencement. However, the position of the AWC is that there is no going back on the imminent strike action, except if government accedes to the request of workers in Nigeria'', Comrade Emelieze concluded.
Although the leadership of the Trade Union Congress(TUC) has declared that there would be no warning strike before workers across the federation would down tools on Wednesday, 16 October, 2019, the Nigeria Labor Congress(NLC) is singing a different song. The NLC insists that the Federal Government has up till 31 October, 2019 to resume negotiations on the new national minimum wage.
