The recent gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa and Kogi states, the Kogi West Senatorial elections and supplementary elections in Nigeria among other events that have attracted public outcry across the country, are all indicators that there is a vicious struggle to assert political and economic hold on a country with millions of its citizens, who are impoverished, disillusioned and disappointed with the leadership at all levels of government.
Indeed, those who call the shots are out of touch with the realities of the times, while government officials and security agencies, basking in the collapse of the national ethos and morality , have taken advantage of the inability of the POWERS THAT BE to identify and prosecute the enemies within, in a bid to further sectional and self centered interests and agenda. Sadly, in the present dispensation the quality of governance is now determined by corruption, while the quality of life, standard of living and depth of comfort of the people deteriorate at train speed.
