The impression that the conditional cash transfers said to be in the region of about 5 Billion Naira to vulnerable Nigerians and the directive that the 150 trucks of seized rice in the possession of the Nigeria Customs Service be distributed to the citizenry in the face of the lock down occasioned by the coronaviruse pandemic, is more of a window dressing to millions of Nigerians.
The millions of people who wear gloomy faces across the country is an indication that the Powers the Be has done little or nothing to address the economic hardships confronting the people due to the forced lock down by Government.
Even though the Federal and State Governments have insisted that there is no going back on the lock down, hunger has driven so many to the streets.
Indeed, in most communities, a number of residents covert influence crime and criminality, while the law enforcement agencies feign ignorance. These are perilous times.
